This week we were once again blessed with glorious sunshine whilst we were outside tending to our garden. We had more stones to collect from Oscar's house so that we could complete our water barrier to try to help retain some moisture for our plants. Unfortunately our soil is very sandy and this makes it really difficult keep the plants roots moist so we decided to place rings of stones around the base of the tomatoes and runner beans - we will keep you posted whether this works!
We also spent some time in the wildlife garden making newt houses and clearing some of the weed out of the pond. Whilst doing this Harry found our newt, a boatman, lots of fresh water leeches plus some toad and frog tadpoles, we were all really pleased to see the diversity in our pond life!
obviously we couldn't finish without a snack from our garden at the end ... more radishes! This week we also sampled some of our herbs (coriander, parsley and rocket) and a couple of pea shoots too!
