This week's learning has provided our children with lots of opportunity to work in groups to share their understandings of what we are looking at.
In English we spent some time preparing to write our Stone Age stories by working in groups to produce a piece of drama to show empathy with characters we have been reading about in Stone Age Boy. Everyone's role play was very good, with lots of thoughtful contributions being made.
In our Topic lesson we began to think about how the changes in living conditions from the Stone Age to Iron Age helped us to understand about the way their life styles were also changing. We talked about how Hillforts were used and their advantages.
Our Science enquiry this week was all about teeth and what makes them decay! We began our experiment by working in groups to put eggs into cups of different liquids for us to observe throughout the week - I wonder how many of our predictions are proven to be true! We had lots of ideas in the class about what promotes tooth decay and how we can look after our teeth.
Maths continued to focus on place value and the relationship between this and counting in multiples. We also spent some time working in groups to share our understandings and work together to produce summaries of what we have studied this half term. We were all delighted with how much we were able to recall and use and I could see the confidence in our children's faces as they explained their understandings to each other. We have also been having our Maths Meetings, watch this space for updates about these!
However, of course the highlight this week was that on our trim trail day the weather was absolutely glorious! There were lots of smiling faces!
Finally, it goes without saying how pleasing it is to have been able to meet with you all this week at our parent consultations and, as always, if you have any questions about your child's progress I am always around before and after school.
