Better Together

Monday 22nd June

Hello Badgers! Welcome to Monday's learning tasks!

I have tried to make things slightly easier for some of you with children in foxes, so there may be some tasks that are similar.

Spellings: i sound spelt y

Use this link: https://spellingframe.co.uk/

  • Click on year 3 & 4 Spelling rule 2 (i sound spelt y in the word)
  • Click on view words.
  • Write them down in your English book.
  • Then press ‘play’ in the top right-hand corner
  • Click on spelling tiles.
  • Each day use 1 of the games until you have gone on each game (5 games each week displayed).

Remember, you will need to complete the spelling test on Friday, so it is a good idea to practice writing some of these words each day too.

English:

This week our English and topic are linked around the text Paddington bear. You will be writing your own Paddington adventure story later in the week.

Reading: A Bear called Paddington

Either listen to, or read for yourself, the first chapter of ‘A Bear called Paddington.

Chapter 1-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKdZ4u6EKiM

Or enjoy reading it yourself! It is a free download on Kindle. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bear-Called-Paddington-Book-ebook/dp/B006UN3FTY

Today, you are going to focus on the characters in the story (these are the characters you will need to include in your version that you will write later this week)

What do you learn about each character? What do they look like? What are they like (think about what they do and say). Record in notes what you learn about each character (this will help you when you come to write your own version). See the example in the word document below for some ideas.

Maths:

Having listened to your feedback from last week, some of you preferred the white rose maths, and some preferred the NCETM videos. So, I am going to offer a choice. You can either do the white rose or  the NCETM videos. There is no right or wrong option, it is what best suits you. Either lesson will benefit your child.

Geography: Peru

Paddington is a spectacled bear form Peru. Locate where Peru is on a world map (you can print the world map below if you wish). What is Peru like? Research and complete a fact file about Peru- you choose how to present your information (e.g. bulletpoints, information poster, information text or something else…) Questions you may use to help:

  • What is the capital city?
  • What is the population of Peru?
  • What is the climate like?
  • What is the land like?
  • What is Peru famous for?
  • What is the flag of Peru?
